CATS
1. General Classification
The domestic cat is a small, meat-eating mammal. They are part of the Felidae family and are one of the most popular pets in the world. Cats are famous for being agile, great hunters, and independent.
2. Description
Parts of the Body
Cats are built for hunting. They have flexible spines and claws that can pull back into their paws. Their ears can turn to find sounds, and they have special eyes that help them see in the dark. Their long tails help them keep their balance.
Food (Diet)
Cats are "obligate carnivores," meaning they must eat meat to stay healthy. They need a special nutrient called taurine found in animal protein. While pets eat cat food, wild cats hunt small animals like mice and birds.
Habitat
Cats live all over the world. House cats live with people, while "feral" cats live outside in forests or cities. They are very adaptable but usually prefer warm places and like to sit in high spots to look around.
Habits (Behavior)
Cats are most active at dawn and dusk. They spend a lot of time "grooming" (licking themselves) to stay clean. They communicate by meowing, purring, or using their tails. Purring usually means they are happy or trying to calm down.
